Welcome to the land consolidation court of Norway
Welcome to the official website for information about land consolidation in Norway. This site is also the portal for the 34 land consolidation courts and 5 land consolidation courts of appeal.
The land consolidation court is a special court and its jurisdiction is estabslished by the land consolidation act. The land consolidation court of appeal and the civil division court of appeal are appellate courts for decisions made by the land consolidation courts.
The purpose of land consolidation is to lay the groundwork for a more efficient exploitation of properties. The land consolidation court can render a verdict in disputes before it starts reorganizing the properties. The delimitation of boundaries (section 88) and the clarifying and determining of conditions relating to property and rights of use under joint ownership (section 88a) could be brought as separate cases.
One or more owners of officially registered real property or any person who has a perpetual right of use may apply for land consolidation. No properties should be diminished because of land consolidation. Mapping and other technical work is done by staff from the court so that decisions made are documented for the future. The technical staff has competency to do all the technical work in each case handled by the court.
